Special election for supervisors nears

Voters in two Webster County districts go to the polls Tuesday in a special election to fill two seats on the Board of Supervisors.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Nov. 3 election to fill the remainder of the terms in districts 2 and 4. The special election was called following last year's deaths of supervisors Mart Salley and Larry Crowley. Nov. 24 is the runoff election date.

Candidates on the ballots in each district are:

¥ District 2: Ronald Castle, Rodney F. Crowell, Patrick S. "Pat" Cummings, Mike "Pee Wee" Davis, Thomas A. Dorroh, Leon Long, Joyce A. Pepper, Tabb "Beau" Powell Sr. and Ruthie McCain Salley, who is serving as interim supervisor.

¥ District 4: Mike Adams, Paul Crowley, Earl Frost, Field Johnson, Marvin D. "Marty" Kilpatrick, David Kirkman, Chris Lott and Cherraye Oats. Larry Crowley's widow, Linda, is serving as interim supervisor.

The circuit clerk's office at the Courthouse in Walthall is open today and Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. for in-office voting. The office will be open from 8 a.m. until noon Saturday for absentee voting, which is the last day to do so. Voting machine testing will be conducted Friday.
