A local family lost everything in a house fire that occurred last week.

The Feb. 5 fire destroyed the home of Mitch and Christy Sisson of 1346 Peppertown Road, according to Bellefontaine Fire Chief Kenny Bingham.

He said the Bellefontaine Volunteer Fire Department was paged out at 10:30 a.m. after a passerby saw the fire. The house was fully involved and had already fallen in when firefighters arrived, said Bingham. No one was home at the time.

Firefighters were on the scene about three hours, and Bingham thanked volunteers from Walthall and Eupora for their assistance. He said the cause of the fire is undetermined and still under investigation.
