Lady Eagles fall in state tourney

Kemper County defeated the Eupora 57-47 in the first-round Class 2A girls game of the MHSAA State Tournament at Mississippi Coliseum.

Kemper (27-8) got 14 points, seven steals and five assists from Chadisty Hickman in Tuesday's game, and forced Eupora (17-7) into 27 turnovers.

Shante Morton led Eupora with 17 points and 14 boards. Kemper takes on New Site Monday in the semifinal. Additional Eupora basketball information is to be published next week.

East Webster

On Feb. 19, the East Webster Lady Wolverines defeated South Leake 60-40 in the 1A quarterfinals of the MHSAA South Mississippi Tournaments.

On Friday, the Lady Wolverines lost 64-24 to McAdams in the semifinals, forcing a third-round match-up Saturday against Thomastown in Bogue Chitto. Thomastown won the South State consolation game 74-59.

The East Webster boys' season ended Feb. 17, when they lost 72-68 to Sebastopol. The Clarion-Ledger named Wolverine Johnthan Banks among its statewide Top Performers of the week for his performance in that game, in which he scored 31 points.

The top three teams from each class advanced to the state tournament that began Monday in Jackson.

They could have done better if that #23 would have had controll of the ball by worrying about the others and #35 is like a ball hog and she gets mad to quick and she trying to coach the team but not doing all that good herself. Thats what the coach is there for is to coach the TEAM...
