Vote on WCDC move postponed

The president of the Webster County Development Council postponed a special called meeting that was to have been earlier this week.

The meeting had been set for this Tuesday at Wood College 30 minutes before a presentation by Vision to Action committees was to begin. President Larry Crowley had set the date for the meeting at the WCDC Board's quarterly meeting on Sept. 11.

The purpose of the meeting was to have been to discuss and vote on the possibility of moving the WCDC office to the Eupora Depot. But Crowley, in a notice to all WCDC directors and members that was issued Sept. 18, said the special meeting had been postponed. No reason was given for the postponement but the notice stated that a new date will be announced soon.

Justice Court 'fines roundup' ongoing

Webster County Justice Court is having a "fines roundup" effective immediately, according to a statement from Justice Court Clerk Janice Brunty.

This is to collect fines owed to the county. Anyone who owes fines and is not currently making payments will have three options, Brunty stated: pay in full, work for the county or go to jail.

Leaf, pine straw collection

The city of Eupora has announced that it will no longer operate the leaf machine on a daily basis. Residents are asked to bag or box their leaves, pine straw or other lawn rubbish to be picked up by the garbage truck with their regular trash.

Sticks and limbs need to be less than three feet in length and placed by one's garbage pickup on the curb. The city asks residents not to rake leaves or brush into ditches or streets.
