Tri-County makes 3 drug arrests

The Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, along with assistance from Clay County Sheriff's Department, arrested Jeremiah Starks and Contrell Valliant on January 8, 2004, in the western part of Clay County for violating the Mississippi Controlled Substances Act.

Jeremiah Starks, 20, of Route 1, Box 269C, Mantee, was arrested on one count of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in proximity of a firearm and one count of possession of marijuana in a motorized vehicle. Contrell Valliant, 22, of 29903 Hwy 46, Mantee, was arrested on one count of possession of marijuana. Both remain in the Clay County jail pending bond at this time.

In an unrelated incident, the Tri-County Narcotics Task Force, along with assistance from Clay County Sheriff's Department, also arrested Simon Obadiah Pearson, on January 9, 2004, in the Una Community for violating the Mississippi Controlled Substances Act.

Pearson, 20, of 1005 Buchanan Street, Tupelo, was arrested on one count of possession of marijuana and one count of possession of an alcoholic beverage by a minor, and still remains in the Clay County jail at this time.
