Two people are now vying for the Ward 1 alderman's post in Eupora.
Ann Hubbard of 210 W. Clark Ave. filed qualifying papers Monday at City Hall. She and Robert Calvin Mays were the only candidates to have filed as of Tuesday morning.
City election commissioners met Tuesday to certify the candidates' petitions; they require 50 signatures that need to be those of qualified voters in Ward 1.
The city will have a special election in Ward 1 on April 6 to fill the unexpired term of Dean Jones, who has resigned. The deadline for candidates to qualify is 5 p.m. March 26.
