The Eupora Eagles have advanced to the second round of the Class 2A state baseball playoffs.
Eupora (20-5) hosts Mooreville in the first game of the best-of-three series at 6 p.m. Monday. The second game will be played at Mooreville on Tuesday and the third game, if necessary, will be played May 6 at Eupora.
Eupora and Mooreville have each won two of the last four state championships.
In the first round's double-elimination tournament in Eupora, the Eagles defeated West Tallahatchie 15-1 last Friday. Saturday's action saw Eupora defeat Shelby Broad Street 22-1 and lose to Water Valley 13-3 in Game 2.
Play continued Monday for Eupora with 7-1 and 12-1 wins over Water Valley. Matt Johnson (8-0) was the winning pitcher in Game 1 while Lee Swindle (6-4) was the winning pitcher in Game 2.
Eagles Coach Lee Berryhill said his players are doing a good job and taking each game one at a time.
