Henry Frank Baxter

Henry Frank Baxter, 83, of Ackerman died July 9, 2004, at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Kosciusko.

Mr. Baxter was born Dec. 6, 1920. He was the first child of Edward Turner Baxter and Rebecca Wylie Baxter. He was a retired logger and sawyer, and had been residing in the State Veterans Home.

Mr. Baxter was a veteran of World War II, having served in Italy, France and Africa, where at Angio Beachhead he was injured and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Survivors include two sons, Roy Baxter and his wife, Linda, and Bobby Baxter and his wife, Cindy, of Ackerman; one daughter, Betty Carr and her husband, David, of Starkville; nine grandchildren, Lisa Prisock of Nashville, Tenn., Belinda Null of Phoenix, James Prisock of Sturgis, Chris, Benji, Justin and J.R. Baxter of Ackerman, Stewart Baxter of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jonathan Baxter of Lucas Texas; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Addie Vance of Houston and one brother, Parnell Baxter of Sturgis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Sanders Baxter; and one son, Billy Charles Baxter.

Services were July 11 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with burial in Concord Cemetery. The Rev. James Burrell officiated.

Charles J. Box Sr.

Charles J. Box Sr., 82, of Mathiston died July 5, 2004, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.

Mr. Box was a retired employee of the Natchez Trace Parkway and farmer. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Perrigan Box of Mathiston; three daughters, Candace Box of Madison, and Cindy Malone and Jo Charlice McKenzie of Sturgis; two sons, Charles J. Box of Starkville and Mike Box of Mathiston; nine grandchildren, C.J. Box III, Alisha Box, Christy Box, Michael Box, Nikki Malone, Vincent McKenzie, Rachel McKenzie, Ashley Fletcher and Chris Collier; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were July 7 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Blythe Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Billy Fulgham; Michael, Charles and Larry Box; Vincent McKenzie and Michael Malone.

Ulrike 'Ute' Browder

Ulrike "Ute" Browder, 58, died July 8, 2004, at her residence in Mathiston.

Mrs. Browder was born in Germany on June 7, 1946. She was an employee of North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora and a member of St. John Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Browder of Eupora; one daughter, Diane Murphy of Mathiston; two sons, Thomas Browder of Eupora and Manfred Browder of Cabot, Ark.; five sisters, Elfride Hassinger, Kataerina Jouaux, Inge Lau and Helge Birkman, all of Germany, and Margaret Johnson of New Braunfels, Texas; and four grandchildren, Daniel Browder, Corry Browder, Andrew Browder and Cody Fondren.

Services were July 10 at Oliver Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greensboro Cemetery. Sister Alies Therese officiated.

Pallbearers were Marvin Weeks, Tom Booth, Zero Box, Jamie McCain, Todd Shettles and Glenn Mitchell.

M.L. Gibson

M.L. Gibson, 92, of Mantee died July 7, 2004, at Trace Regional Hospital in Houston.

Mr. Gibson was a farmer and electrician. He was a member and deacon at Mantee Baptist Church, a director of the Federal Land Bank in Houston, a member and president of the Webster County School Board, and a director of Webster General Hospital. He was also a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Barton Gibson; his daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and W.W. "Billy" Carter; his son and daughter-in-law, Benny and Sandra Gibson, all of Mantee; four grandchildren, Samantha Gibson, Taylor Gibson and his wife, Robyn, Rebecca Wood and her husband, Bart, and Warren and Michele Carter; and four great-grandchildren, Catherine Carter, Cole Wood, Carter Wood and Caroline Wood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Roxey Alford Gibson.

Services were July 9 at Mantee Baptist Church, which was his and Mrs. Gibson's 68th wedding anniversary. Burial was in Wake Forrest Cemetery, and Dr. Bill Baker and the Rev. Marvin "Bo" Farrior officiated.

Pallbearers were Pat Gibson, Bill Gibson, Charles Ferguson, Allen Fulgham, Bill Reed and Phil Ferguson. Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Mantee Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mantee Baptist Church Building Fund.

Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Faye Harville

Dorothy Faye Harville, 70, of Mathiston died July 12, 2004, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Mrs. Harville, a homemaker, was born in Winston County. She was a Baptist.

Survivors include her husband, Jessie "Jay" Harville of Mathiston; one daughter and son-in-law, Nellie and John "Drut" Hall of Maben; one son and daughter-in-law, Jessie Jr. and Crystal Harville of Maben; one sister, Eleanor Fordyce of Byhalia; two brothers, Larry Gregory of Louisville and Johnny Gregory of Guatemala; four granddaughters, Melanie Hollingsworth of Anniston, Ala., Denise Cox of Maben, Kimberly Wells of Starkville and Nichole Harvey of Eupora; and four great-grandchildren.

Services were July 14 at Welch Funeral Home in Maben with burial in Spring Valley Cemetery.

William Christopher McKibben

William Christopher McKibben, 26, of Gaithersburg, Md., died May 28, 2004, following an automobile accident.

Survivors include his mother, Jeannette Norris McKibben of Gaithersburg; one sister, Cynthia Landrum of Ackerman; two brothers, Sam McKibben of Ackerman and Sullivan McKibben of Eupora; one sister-in-law, Margie McKibben of Eupora; his aunts and uncles, James and Mildred Vaughn of Woodland, Margie Ricks of Boyle, Shirley Buckner of Eupora, and James and Loretta Norris of Scottsboro, Ala.; his fiance, Patricia Lynn McVay of Gaithersburg; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jurney R. McKibben of Ackerman; and a brother J.R. McKibben of Eupora.

Services were June 11 at Free Methodist Church in Rockville, Md., with interment in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Md.

Simple Tribute Funeral Home of Rockville was in charge of arrangements.

In loving memory of their beloved brother a memorial service will be held by his sister and brothers Sunday, July 18, 2004 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Mt. Nebo Methodist Church for relatives and friends to attend.

Lena Clay Medders

Lena Clay Medders, 99, of Stewart died July 11, 2004, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora.

Mrs. Medders, retired, was a member of Tomnolen Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Helen Davis of Stewart; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd Medders; and a son, Gerald Medders.

Services were July 13 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. The Revs. J.B. Rowe and Terry Wills officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to Tomnolen Baptist Church.

Imogene D. Perry

Imogene D. Perry, 73, died July 12, 2004, at her residence in Ackerman of complications from cancer.

Mrs. Perry, a homemaker, was born Dec. 4, 1930, in Arkansas. She was a member of Chester Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, J.T. Perry of Ackerman; four daughters, Peggy Goza, Kay Smith and Theresa Skinner of Ackerman, and Debbie Upchurch of Madison; two brothers, Cordell Dodd of Vaiden and Calvin Dodd of Kosciusko; two sisters, Lois Buskirk of Louisville and Diane Bailey of Mantee; and seven grandchildren.

Services were July 14 at Chester Baptist Church with burial in Salem Cemetery. The Revs. Marcus Pengler, Jerry Lawson and Tim Long officiated.
