The Hamilton Lions came to Eupora for a division matchup with the Eagles last friday night. The hometown boys started a little slow and sluggish. Eupora failed to score in the first quarter. The Eagles also had several penalties and a turnover. They finally got it rolling in the second quarter and a trickle of points became a flood, then a monsoon, then full fledged hurricane.

Eupora's first score came on 62 yard drive that took one minute and 51 seconds. It was highlighted by a 17 and 18 yard runs by Jackie Hankins and a 20 yard run by Chace Kohen. Hankins ran it in from 3 yards out. Brian Mccomb added the pat and the Eagles were up 7 to 0. The next score from Eupora resulted from a 75 yard drive. The key play on this drive was a 41 yard pass from Lee Swindle to Terrance Gary. Chace Kohen provided the td on a 7 yard run. McComb's pat was good and Eupora was up 14 to 0. The Eagles scored again with 1:30 left in the second quarter. This was a 56 yard drive culminated by a pass from Swindle to Jackie Hankins for 24 yards and the score. McComb was good on the extra point and Eupora was up 21 to 0. The Eagles managed to get the ball back one more time before the half. Evander Woodard scored on 67 yard run with 38 seconds left. The pat made it 28 to 0. On the ensuing kickoff the Lion return man broke outside and raced down the sideline 85 yards for a td. The conversion failed and the half ended 28 to 6.

Hamilton opened up the second half with an onsides kick and recovered it on the Eupora 48 yard line. Their offense failed to move the ball and the Lions punted the ball to the Eagle 10 yard line. After one play and a penalty Lee Swindle hit Jonathan Yates on a short hitch pattern and Yates turned it into a 91 yard touchdown. Eupora led 35 to 6 with 9:43 left in the third period. The Eagles had short field of 19 yards for their next drive courtesy of a Jeremy Sherman hit causing a fumble and Coty Bennett recovered. The offense took over and scored a couple of plays later on a Chace Kohen 8 yard run. Eagles 42 Lions 6

Then final score of the night came on a drive of 58 yards. The crucial play on this drive was a 32 yard run by Woodard again. Evander ran it on in from the 7 yard line. McComb added his sixth extra point of the night to end the scoring at 49 to 6.

The Eagles are coming into the toughest part of the schedule. The next four games are all division games. Eupora plays Ackerman next, then Okolona, Bruce and Water Valley. The Indians are coming off two straight wins in the division and will be the toughest test yet for the Eagles. Come on to Ackerman and see if the Eagles can extend their record to 7&0.
