EWES Fall Festival

East Webster Elementary School will have its Fall Festival from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 4.

Activities will include the maze, Pepsi ring toss, toywalk, Go Fish, karaoke/Elvis impersonator, bingo and a cakewalk. Food and drinks will be sold in the cafeteria.

Tickets may also be purchased for the grocery grab from which the winner's ticket will be drawn on Nov. 15. Tickets for most activities will be sold from Nov. 1-4; early purchase is recommended.

Customer service seminar

The Webster County Development Council and the Small Business Development Center at Mississippi State University will sponsor a free customer service seminar from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Eupora Depot. Call 258-7835 for reservations.

'The Glass Menagerie'

The Starkville Community Theatre will present its second show of the season beginning Nov. 4. "The Glass Menagerie" is directed by Bob Anderson and will run Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

The show will resume Nov. 9 and will run through Nov. 13 with those shows beginning at 7:30 p.m. Reservations for the production, to be staged at the Playhouse on Main in Starkville, are strongly suggested, and the number for reservations and more information is 323-6855.

VFW bingo

Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 in Eupora will have bingo Nov. 6 at 6 p.m.

A dance featuring the Bobby Davis Band will follow at 8:30 p.m.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library will meet at noon Nov. 8 at the Webster County Public Library.

Elizabeth Cummings is in charge of the program. The public is invited to come for food and fellowship.

City Beautification

Committee meeting

The City Beautification Committee will meet Monday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Depot. This is a very important meeting. We will elect officers, set small due fee and continue working on projects already in progress.

We will be decorating the outside of the Depot for Christmas and helping in other needed areas throughout the city. We need you to help us move forward in the area of beautification.

Private pesticide

applicator training

Private pesticide applicator training will be conducted at the Webster County Extension Office on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m.

Knitting workshop

Barbara McClelland of Winona will conduct a basic knitting class on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m. in the Webster County Extension Office.

She will be teaching participants the basics of knitting a fashionable new scarf, similar to those seen in magazines and clothing stores

Participants should call the Extension office at 258-3971 by Nov. 5 to preregister. The workshop fee is $5 and a list of supplies will be provided upon registration.

Benefit Brunswick stew

The Clarkson-Fame Fire Department will host a benefit for Louis Bingham, a cancer patient, on Nov. 13.

Brunswick stew will be sold by the gallon, quart or bowl at noon. Desserts and drinks will be available.

Library bake sale

The Webster County Public Library will have a fall bake sale on Nov. 16.

Samples, coffee, recipes and recipe books will be available from 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.

Cattlemen's meeting

The Webster County Cattlemen's Association meeting will be Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Eupora Community Center.

Ducks Unlimited

The annual Ducks Unlimited banquet will be Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at the National Guard armory in Eupora.

Dale Smith Thomas

book signing Nov. 29

Christian motivational speaker Dale Smith Thomas of Nashville, Tenn., will have a book signing at the Webster County Public Library on Nov. 29 from noon to 2 p.m.

She will be signing copies of her first book, "Solo in the Spotlight." In the book, she dares her readers to move out of their shadows of doubt and fear, and find the spotlight that is waiting.

Ackerman Christmas Parade

The town of Ackerman will host the annual Christmas Parade on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m.

The theme for this year's event is "Songs of Christmas." The deadline for submitting entries in the parade is Nov. 22. Entry forms may be picked up, mailed or faxed from the Ackerman Town Hall.

First-, second- and third-place religious float winners; first-, second- and third-place non-religious float winners; Best Decorated Vehicle, one winner; and "Other Miscellaneous" entries, one winner, will be named. All vehicles must be decorated.

Miss Merry

Christmas Pageant

Entry forms are now available for the Miss Merry Christmas Pageant, which will be Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. in Latham Auditorium at Eupora High School.

The pageant is open to all young ladies who reside in Webster, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Choctaw and Montgomery counties. A winner and alternates will be named in each of the six divisions from ages 1-18; entrants age 18 must be high school seniors. The entry fee for each contestant in all age divisions is $30.

Entry forms are available at local school offices and from these locations: The Webster Progress-Times, The Classy Closet dress shop, Belinda Stewart Architects, Cheernastics, Joyce Yates School of Dance, all on Dunn Street in Eupora; and Trace-Way Restaurant in Mathiston.

This pageant is a fund-raiser to benefit the BLY Fine Arts Center renovation project and the Webster County Mass Choir.

Eupora Christmas Parade

"Christmas in the Southland" is the theme of this year's Eupora Christmas Parade.

The parade, sponsored by the Eupora Rotary Club, begins at 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, and will proceed along the usual downtown route. It will be in conjunction with the Webster County Christmas Market that day in downtown Eupora.

The entry fee is $10 and all vehicles must be decorated. Cash awards will be given to the top three entries.

Christmas Market

decorations needed

Unused Christmas decorations such as lights, ribbon, greenery and ornaments are needed for the Webster County Christmas Market.

Donations may be delivered to the Webster County Public Library, Webster County Development County office in the Eupora Depot or Belinda Stewart Architects office.

The Christmas Market will be Dec. 3-4 on Dunn Street in downtown Eupora.

Fund-raiser ongoing

for softball dugout

People may help build a new dugout for the Lady Eagle softball team by purchasing a block in honor or memory of their favorite person, loved one, Lady Eagle or Eagle.

Purchase price is $5. The honoree's name will appear on a sign on the dugout. See any softball player or Lady Eagle Diamond Club member to purchase a block or blocks.
