Mary Sprayberry
Mary Sprayberry, 89, of Calhoun City died Jan. 18, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Oxford.
Mrs. Sprayberry was a member of Bradford's Chapel Church and the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha S. Rogers of Calhoun City and Belinda S. Murphy of New Orleans; a son, James Earl Sprayberry of Alva; a brother, Tommie G. Sledge of Calhoun City; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Sprayberry; and one great-grandchild.
Services were Jan. 21 at Bradford's Chapel Church with burial in the church cemetery. Bro. Thomas Murphy, Bro. Danny Swindle and the Rev. David Ross officiated.
Pallbearers were grandsons and honorary pallbearers were great-grandsons.
National Funeral Home of Grenada was in charge of arrangements.
Jerry G. Wise
Jerry G. Wise, 77, of Ackerman died Jan. 18, 2005, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Columbus.
Mr. Wise, a minister, was born Feb. 18, 1927, in Choctaw County. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Ackerman Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edwina Morris Wise of Ackerman; two sons, Johnny G. Wise and wife, Rhonda, of Mathiston and Joseph W. Wise of Ackerman; a daughter, Becky Doss and husband, Jimmy, of Mathiston; three brothers, Dan Wise and wife, Brenda, of Ackerman, David Wise and wife, Beverly, of Johnson City, Tenn., and Jim Wise and wife, Catherine, of Ackerman; two sisters, Carolyn McQuiston and husband, Danny, of Myrtle, and Nell Young of Ackerman; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a wife, Gwendolyn W. Wise; and a son, Timothy Wise.
Services were Jan. 20 at Ackerman Baptist Church with burial in Enon Cemetery. The Revs. Danny Irvin, Jerry Lawson and Doug Wise officiated.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons' Choctaw County Jail Ministry c/o Victory Baptist Church in Mathiston or a charity of one's choice.
Coleman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
