Special election scheduled for Nov. 8; qualifying deadline set for Sept. 2

The Webster Progress-Times

WALTHALL --Six people are now in the running for District 3 supervisor of Webster County.

Qualifiers not previously reported are Alvin L. "Buster" Duvall, Mike Gary and Phillip Smith, according to the circuit clerk's office.

They join previously reported candidates Mark Burton, Danny Hubbard and interim Supervisor Janice Lamb.

A special election will be conducted in District 3 on Nov. 8 to fill the vacancy created by last year's death of Lynn Lamb.

No candidates had filed as of Monday for the countywide special election on the same date to choose a new prosecuting attorney. Hugh Gibson is serving as interim prosecutor.

The qualifying deadline for both offices is Sept. 2.
