Nine running for District 3 supervisor

District 3 voters in Webster County will choose among nine candidates when they go to the polls next week to elect a new supervisor.

Candidates running to fill the unexpired term of the late Lynn Lamb are Earl Baker, Dale Boatman, Mark Burton, Alvin L. "Buster" Duvall, Mike Gary, Danny Hubbard, Janice Lamb, Charles Rivers and Phillip Smith.

They will be on the ballot of a special election set for Tuesday, Nov. 8, to fill the vacancy created by Lamb's death last October. The election will be to complete his term through Dec. 31, 2007. A runoff election, if necessary, will be Nov. 22 between the two candidates who receive the highest popular votes.

The Board of Supervisors appointed Janice Lamb as interim supervisor following her husband's death.

POLLING PLACES

District 3 has 1,447 registered voters, who may casts ballots Tuesday between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election precincts and polling places are:

€ Eupora No. 3: Beverly Healthcare-Eupora.

€ Grady: New Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

€ Tomnolen: Fire Department.

€ Fay: Boatman's Garage.

ABSENTEE VOTING

Absentee ballots are available in the Webster County circuit clerk's office in Walthall for those people who qualify to vote by absentee ballot in the special election.

The Webster County circuit clerk's office is open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The circuit clerk's office will be open Saturday, Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. until noon for anyone eligible to vote an absentee ballot.
