The Webster County Sheriff's Department arrested two men last week on unrelated felony charges.

Both of the arrests were made Feb. 14. James C. Thompson, 23, was charged with sale of marijuana more than 1 ounce but less than a kilogram, sale of marijuana less than 1 ounce, both felonies, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce.

Thompson, in affidavits filed by Deputy Tim Mitchell, is accused of selling marijuana while in the old Family Dollar parking lot on Feb. 6 and 9, and possessing marijuana at the same location on Feb. 9. He was released on $15,000 bond on Feb. 16.

John David Luke, 42, was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Deputy Jerry Clark alleges in an affidavit that Luke, having been convicted of felonies in Florida, possessed a firearm at his home on Union Church Road in Stewart on Feb. 14.

The felony charges from Florida were listed as fraud-swindle, possession of marijuana and burglary of an occupied dwelling.

Luke remained in jail as of Tuesday under a $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Justice court on March 3 at 1 p.m.
