Friends of Library

yard sale

The Friends of Webster County Public Library will be having a big yard sale in the parking lot and front sidewalk of the library this Friday and Saturday.

It will start at 8 a.m. and go until about 4:p.m. on Friday and until about 2 p.m. on Saturday. Office items, household items, baked goods, baby items and toys, shoes, purses, bedding, books, videos and many other things will be available.

Bring your wallets and support your local library by buying something you need!

Womanless Beauty

Review at EHS

The Eupora High School cheerleaders will be hosting a Womanless Beauty Review at 6 p.m. Friday in Latham Auditorium at Eupora High School. Admission will be $5 at the door.

Some of the entries include coaching staff, football and baseball players, fathers and others not in school at Eupora. The pageant will be in good taste with lots of fun expected.

'Children's Letters

to God'

Eupora Arts Inc. will present the musical "Children's Letters to God" Friday and Saturday at Bennett Auditorium on the campus of Wood Institute.

Performances will be Friday at 7 p.m., and Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at Eupora Jewelry& Gifts (258-2081) and Lä dé dä, Eupora (258-2727), as well as the Webster County Development Office in the Eupora Depot (258-7835).

Tickets will also be available at the door. Concessions will be available for purchase during intermission.

Church benefit

party at Depot

A benefit party for the Catholic Church of St. John Nuemann will be Friday from 7-11 p.m. at the Eupora Depot on Dunn Street.

Admission is $2 for school-age children and $3.50 for adults. The party will include a dance, food, pińatas, competition and raffles. Call 258-7539 for more information.

Rummage sale

Saturday at FBC

The youth department of First Baptist Church will have a rummage sale in the parking lot of the church along Highway 182 and in the building next to the parking lot at 104 W. Roane.

The sale will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. Items will include furniture, kitchen items, clothing, baby items, books, videos and many other bargains.

Williams Reunion

The Williams Reunion will be Saturday at Montevista Baptist Church.

Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish for the noon meal. Call Joan White at 258-2929 for more information.

Bingo at VFW

Bingo will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Biggers-Trussell

The annual Biggers-Trussell reunion will be Sunday at the Biggers home place in Choctaw County.

The home place is on Highway 415 between Tomnolen and Chester.

Mount Hope

Memorial services at Mount Hope Church of Christ in Dancy will be Sunday at 10 a.m.

Mart Salley will be the speaker and Peter Salley will lead the singing.

Clear Springs/Double

Springs memorial

The Clear Springs/Double Springs memorial will be Sunday. The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Joe Shurden bringing the message.

A picnic lunch will be spread at the noon hour. The singing, led by Howard Cooper, will begin at 1 p.m.

Montevista Baptist

Montevista Baptist Church in Webster County will have memorial services on Sunday.

The services will begin at 10:30 a.m. with George Austin as the guest speaker. Sonny Williams will be leading the music and Gail Crow will be the pianist. She will also be bringing special music. An afternoon singing will follow the noon meal.

Gospel singing

in Calhoun City

A pre-Mother's Day celebration will be May 13 at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion building in Calhoun City.

Singers will include the Salem Harmonizers of Olive Branch, the Hebrew Boys of West Point, Forrest Brothers of Winona, Mighty Gospel Warriors of Bruce, Minister Mark Blair and Restoration of Tupelo, Spiritual Hormoneers of Houston, Shining Stars of Bruce and New Magnolia of New Albany.

Marvin Hill Congregational Methodist Church in Cumberland will be having memorial services on May 14.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Sue Cooper will be the speaker and the Rev. Raleigh Richter will bring the memorial message. Special singers will perform.

WCDC Banquet

set for May 15

The Webster County Development Council will be having the first WCDC Banquet on May 15 at 7 p.m. in the Eupora First Baptist Church Family Life Center.

The organization will be recognizing its Governor's Cup nominees, outstanding teachers, a Volunteer of the Year and others. Blake Wilson, executive director for the Mississippi Economic Council, will be the speaker at the banquet.

Farm Pond

Management Program

The Webster County Extension Office will be holding a Farm Pond Management Program on May 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the Webster County Extension Office.

Bill Maily, area agent in Hinds County, will present the workshop. The workshop will include classroom instruction and hands-on activities at a local farm pond. Participants should dress casually and prepare to be outdoors.

Topics of discussion will be Pond Construction, Stocking Fish (species and rates), Fertility Methods, Harvest Practices and Weed Control. No registration fee will be charged. Contact Lisa Stewart at 258-3971 for more information.

Diabetes Self-

Management Program

The Comprehensive Diabetes Self-Management Program at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora will be offered May 17 from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Cattlemen's

Association

The Webster County Extension Office and the Cattlemen's Association will be hosting the May meeting on May 18 at 7 p.m. at the Eupora Community Center.

Evergreen Ag of Mathiston will sponsor the meeting and Richard Watson, Extension state specialist, will be the speaker and will be discussing forage production. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please call the Extension Office at 258-3971 to pre-register.

The Webster County Cattlemen's Association would like to take this opportunity to invite you to become a member. Membership dues are $40 a year, and applications will be available at the meeting and are available at the Webster County Extension Office.

Source Verification

Course upcoming

A Beef Cattle Age and Source Verification short course is scheduled for May 19 at Extension distance education sites across Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, including Webster County. If interested please call the County Extension Office at 258-3971.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and covers topics such as animal identification, source verification, the Southeastern Livestock Network, breed association commercial marketing programs and other marketing services

Speakers from USDA, Superior Livestock Auction, the University of Kentucky, Premium Beef Network, Decatur County Feedyard, the American Angus Association and eMerge Interactive will be on hand to provide up-to-date information on beef cattle marketing alternatives, services and industry trends.

Cemetery meeting

The South Union Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting May 21 at 2:30 p.m. at the home of Ruth Vaughan on Center Road.
