Farmer's Market

The Four County Farmer's Market is now open every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 8 a.m. until the produce is gone. The market is located in what was the Doss Building across from Hawkeye Glove on Highway 182 in Eupora.

Producers wishing to sell in the farmer's market will be charged a fee of $5 per day or $25 per year.

Summer Reading

Program today

Chris Green from the Mississippi Department of Transportation will give an anti-litter presentation at 1 p.m. June 29 at the Webster County Public Library.

This is the final day of the library's Summer Reading Program, "Paws, Claws, Scales and Tails." The program is for children from preschool to children entering second grade.

Equine nutrition

program tonight

An equine nutrition program will be presented June 29 at Farley Farms in Cumberland at 6:30 p.m.

Mike Camp with Nutrena Feeds will present this program for all interested.

Blood drive

United Blood Services will sponsor a blood drive on June 30 at NMMC-Eupora.

The bloodmobile will be parked at the hospital from 1-6 p.m.

'Movie Under

the Stars'

Eupora Arts Inc. is presenting "Movie Under the Stars" on Friday nights at the corner of Fox Avenue and Dunn Street.

Upcoming movies are "Dreamer" starring Kurt Russell and Dakota Fanning on June 30; "To Kill a Mockingbird" starring Gregory, Peck, Mary Badham and Phillip Alford on July 7; and "E.T." starring Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore on July 21.

The movies will begin at 8:45 p.m. Bring a comfortable chair; snacks and drinks will be for sale. Shows will be canceled if raining or bad weather.

Calhoun City's

centennial party

Calhoun City's 100th birthday celebration will be June 30 and July 1. Friday night on the Square includes lamppost dedication and a street dance to Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster. Saturday's events include children's activities, food, Calhoun City's own Ace Cannon and fireworks.

Quilt Show

The Webster County Public Library will host a Quilt Show again this year in July.

Anyone with quilts that can be displayed is asked to call the library at 258-7515.

Freedom Fest

Freedom Fest will be July 1 at Eupora's Whites Creek Lake. The festival is one of the main fund-raisers to help finance the already-under-construction BLY Fine Arts Center on Main Street.

The praise band OWSIA will open the show at 5 p.m. and Survivors 2006 will headline the music entertainment.

The cover charge at the gate will be $3 for people 6 and older; children 5 and under get in free. Food vendors will be on hand. Please see related article on Page 1 for more details.

Bingo at VFW

Bingo will be at 6 p.m. July 1 at VFW Post 3806 in Eupora.

Vaughan Reunion

The James Joseph "Joe" and Nora Vaughan Reunion will be July 2 at the Woodmen of the World lodge in Eupora at approximately 10 a.m.

All descendants, cousins, extended family members and friends are invited to bring a covered dish and enjoy the good food and fellowship.

Holmes schedules

local classes

Holmes Community College has scheduled registration for second-term summer school classes.

Registration for second term day classes in Webster County will be July 5 at 1 p.m. at the Webster County Career and Technology Center.

Second-term day classes offered Monday through Friday are English Composition II, College Algebra and Music Appreciation

'50s Eupora High

School Reunion

Alumni from Eupora High School can look forward to fun and fellowship at the '50s Eupora High School Reunion.

The classes of 1950-1959 will be gathering back in Eupora on July 8 for a '50s get-together. Alumni from all classes that graduated or would have graduated in the 1950s are invited to attend the reunion. The class of 1956 is the host class for this get-together in conjunction with its 50th class reunion.

The reunion will take place at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center with registration beginning at 1:30 p.m. and the reunion beginning at 2 p.m.

the Library

The Friends of the Library will meet on July 10 at noon at the Webster County Public Library.

Randy Helmick will be the speaker. The Friends of the Library invite all interested to join them for food, fun and fellowship.

AARP safe

driver class

AARP is offering a safe driving class in Mathiston on July 24 and 25 at Wood Institute, sponsor.

Motorists 55 years of age and older will qualify for a discount on their automobile insurance while refreshing themselves on the rules of the road. However, any licensed driver who wants to improve their driving skills is eligible to enroll in the class. Other attendees may be eligible for discounts on their automobile insurance.

AARP safe driving classes are eight-hour driver education refresher courses for licensed drivers. The law in Mississippi mandates that drivers 55 years of age and older who complete the class be entitled to receive an appropriate discount on their automobile insurance premium for three years following completion of the class.

The class will meet from 8 a.m. until noon each day in the Science Building at Wood. Parking will be available at the rear of the building. You do not have to be a member of AARP to enroll nor will you be required to pass any exams or tests. You must attend both four-hour sessions to receive your completion certificate.

For more information or to register for this class call Carolyn Sherrill at 263-5193 before July 21. A $10 materials fee is payable prior to the start of the first day of class. Class size will be limited to 40 students.

Cooper family to hold reunion

The Cooper Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Citizen's Bank meeting room located on South Church Street in Louisville.

Everyone is invited. Please bring a covered dish for lunch to be served at 12:30. The building will open at 11 a.m. For further information please call 601-656-6492.

Haimes Reunion to be held

Anyone interested in getting together for a Haimes Reunion should come to the Citizen's Bank meeting room located on South Church Street in Louisville.

The reunion will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2006. Please bring a covered dish and we will enjoy food, fun, and fellowship. Everyone is invited to come get together for a great day of fun. The building will open at 11:00 a.m.
