Webster Care Learning Center may be in its new building by November, Director Lynn McCafferty told the Eupora Rotary Club on Aug. 15.
An early-morning fire destroyed the former facility on May 4, 2005, when empty. The old parsonage at First United Methodist is serving as interim headquarters until completion of the replacement structure at 502 Veterans Memorial Blvd. S. This is in the previous location on the west side of the highway beside Eupora Medical Clinic.
The McCarty Co. of Tupelo is contractor for the new facility and McCafferty, who has been director since Webster Care opened in 1987, helped with its design.
The new center will include a covered porch for each class that the children can play on during rains, a staff lounge, a concrete driveway and covered drop-off. Also new will be an after-school and summer program able to serve 15 children.
McCafferty said one new full-time employee and possibly two more part-time staffers will be hired.
Webster Care is affiliated with North Mississippi Medical Center. NMMC-Eupora Administrator Bob Jones told fellow Rotarians he thought the new center would be one the community could be proud of. An open house is planned.
