East Webster defeated East Oktibbeha 21-14 in a double-overtime win Friday at Crawford.
Trailing 14-7 in the fourth quarter, EW quarterback Jonathan Banks connected with his receiver for a 5-yard gain. That gain turned into a 65-yard game-tying touchdown, according to the Starkville Daily News in Sunday's edition.
The SDN reported that, in overtime, East Oktibbbeha was first to go on offense but a fumble by running back Octavious Logan ended the Titans' scoring opportunity. Their defense held, however, and a second overtime period followed.
East Webster won the toss and promptly scored a touchdown before the Wolverines defense denied East Oktibbeha to seal the divisional win, the newspaper reported.
This Friday, East Webster (1-0) travels to Walnut, which defeated Hamilton 14-13 in overtime last week. The Titans (1-1) host West Lowndes.
