A city traffic stop last Thursday morning resulted in a man's arrest on drug and stolen weapon charges.
The arrest occurred Jan. 25 at Westwood Apartments in Eupora, where Police Chief Gregg Hunter stopped Jeffery Rush.
As a result of the stop, Rush, 25, was charged with possession of 20 grams of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana less than 30 grams (in a vehicle).
The Eupora Police Department also seized the 1999 Ford car Rush was driving at the time of the stop. Police said the firearm was a 9 mm pistol that was stolen from Clint Tindall's residence at 103 Cedar Ave. in October.
Rush, of Westwood Apartment 20, is being held at the Webster County Jail under $100,000 bond. During an initial city court appearance Monday, Rush stated that he had retained Webb Franklin of Greenwood as his attorney. A preliminary hearing is set for 3 p.m. Tuesday.
