WALTHALL - More candidates have thrown their hats in the ring for county offices.
These include Kay Embry, a Democratic candidate for tax assessor-collector. Incumbent Barbara Gore had previously filed for re-election as a Democrat.
Eupora Alderman Robert Calvin Mays (Ward 1) is running as an Independent for District 1 supervisor and will not be on the ballot until November. Incumbent Robert Hitt and James "Pop" Woodard are also candidates, as Democrats.
Another new qualifier, for District 1 constable, is Democrat Johnny Greene. He joins candidates Howard Rodgers and Dewyatt Winter, also running as Democrats.
In another development in that race, Anthony "Tony" Williamson has withdrawn as a Republican candidate. Incumbent Jeff McMinn is running for District 5 supervisor.
For the office of coroner, William C. "Willie" Reed has filed as a Democrat. He will be running against Republican incumbent Steve Wells.
