The Southeastern Conference baseball races just keep on getting tighter.

Mississippi State swept two-of-three games from SEC West-leading Arkansas to move to within one game of the Razorbacks, while South Carolina did the same thing in the SEC East by taking two-of-three from Florida.

Arkansas is 8-4 in the league going into this week's action, while Mississippi State and Ole Miss are tied for second in the West with 7-5 records. Florida remains on top of the SEC East at 8-4, while South Carolina and Vanderbilt are both 7-5.

After visiting South Alabama on Tuesday and facing the Jaguars at a neutral spot at Trustmark Park in Pearl on Wednesday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs visiting the University of Tennessee for a three-game series.

Ole Miss was set to visit the University of Southern Mississippi on Wednesday, before heading to Baton Rouge for a three-game weekend set at LSU. SEC West-leading Arkansas hosts East-leading Arkansas.

In other SEC series this weekend, Auburn visits South Carolina, Kentucky hosts Vanderbilt and Alabama entertains Georgia.

State lost to No. 6-ranked Arkansas 9-3 on Sunday, but that came after an 11-9 win on Friday and a 2-1 victory over the Razorbacks on Saturday. Justin Pigott fired a complete game, giving up eight hits and allowing only an earned run.

After falling behind 1-0 and being no-hit for six innings, State's Joseph McCaskill delivered a two-run single in the seventh inning.

Ole Miss won on Friday, lost to Georgia on Saturday, then thumped the Bulldogs 9-0 on Sunday. Freshman Nathan Baker picked up the win on the mound for the Rebels, who moved to 24-10 overall. Helping Baker, now 4-1 on the season, post the shutout were Justin Cryer and Cody Satterwhite.
