Mart Salley announces that he is seeking re-election as District 2 supervisor.

"I am coming before the people of Webster County District 2 thanking you for the opportunity that you have given me to serve you these last four years," he stated.

Salley and his wife of 26 years, Ruthie McCain Salley, have two children, Chip and Brandi, and a daughter-in-law, Bethany. He is a member of the Eupora Church of Christ.

"During my term as supervisor I have strived my best to address every concern that you have had about roads, jobs, taxes, garbage and a host of problems that arise every day," Salley said.

"The office of supervisor requires someone who is willing to sacrifice their time and energy to not only road maintenance but also county administration," he added. "I have taken every opportunity during my term to satisfy both. Our roads and bridges are safer to travel and more improvements are being made each day. I am working with our local fire departments to secure the funds and equipment needed to keep our families safe and insurance rates low by utilizing our local tax dollars along with state and federal grants.

"My efforts, along with my fellow board members and our economic developer have secured one new industry in the county and we are currently in negotiations with other prospects."

Salley continued, "During my term I have served two years as board vice president; four years on the Webster County Development Council, serving one year as president; four years as local county official representative for the Workforce Incentive Board and two years on the Golden Triangle Waste Services Board as secretary.

"My goal has and will always be to improve the quality of life for every citizen that I represent by keeping our taxes some of the lowest in the state while still providing safe roads and bridges, community services, and more good-paying jobs so that our children and grandchildren can live and work in Webster County."

Additionally, said Salley, "All of this takes commitment, hard work and dedication, but most of all it takes a love of service for one's community; and I have truly loved the opportunity that you have given me to serve you these past four years. Now I am asking you once again to allow me to continue to serve you as your supervisor.

"I have many projects that I am working on from roads to new industries that will improve the quality of life and I would hate to see these projects fall through the cracks. With your help and prayers we can see these come together; so on Aug. 7, please vote to re-elect Mart Salley for continued progress. Thank you."
