Much progress has been made in past weeks at Gary Park (James O. Gary Sports Complex) on Hall Road in Eupora thanks to the help of many people.

Mike Narmour, city park and recreation director, said work on the two ball fields has included hauling and spreading dirt, laser grading for drainage, planting grass and trenching. Some rain is now needed for the grass, he added.

Narmour thanked all those who have helped, including city Street Department Director Charles Ray and his crew, city Water/Wastewater Director Benny Neal and his crew, county supervisors Robert Hitt and Charles Rivers and their crews, and Donald Woods, Pat Cummings and Wade Swindoll.

Narmour said the city hopes to have the multisports complex ready for play next spring. Its development has been made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Interior, city funds, the Gary family, corporate and other private donations, and in -kind work.
