Marlene Swingle Loney Blanton, 70, died Jan. 19, 2008, at Choctaw County Nursing Home in Ackerman.
She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Ackerman. Marlene was born in Jackson, Ohio, on July 23, 1937, and moved to Ackerman upon her marriage to C.E. "Red" Blanton in 1971. Her professional career was in retail management. She was an avid reader and an excellent seamstress.
Survivors include her sons, Aaron W. Loney and Jeffrey L. Loney, a daughter, Pam L. Ward; two daughters-in-law, Beth Loney and Alynda Loney; a son-in-law, Jackson W. Ward; five grandchildren, Brittany L. Ward, Joshua L. Loney, Caden L. Loney, Holden Blake and Sarah Beth Loney; a niece, Wendy Swingle Sneed; great-niece, Andrea Sneed; and great-nephew, Garrett Sneed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Swingle; her three brothers, Lewis Swingle Jr., Gene Swingle and Larry Swingle; her first husband, Peter Lorne Loney; and second husband, C.E. "Red" Blanton.
Services were Jan. 23 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with burial in Enon Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Holden Blake, Power Humphrey, Aaron Loney, Jeff Loney, Josh Loney and Jack Ward.
Memorials may be made to Choctaw County Nursing Home.
Tommie S. Borden
Tommie S. Borden, 47, of Purvis died Jan. 24, 2008, at Regency Hospital in Hattiesburg.
She was born Oct. 17, 1960, in Eupora. Ms. Borden worked in sales and waitressing, and was a flea market vendor. She loved her grandkids and her puppy dogs.
Survivors include a daughter, Tondra Madden of Purvis; a sister, Sherry Shurden of Hattiesburg; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; two nephews and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marjorie Griffin.
Services were Jan. 27 at Wise Funeral Home in Eupora with the Rev, Billy Michael Trull officiating. Burial was in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lance Buckner, Gordon Hatcher, Kevin Hitt, Sam McKibben, Sullivan McKibben, Dennis Steadman and Tony Steadman.
