Officials have released findings about a house fire last month that resulted in the death of a Clarkson woman.
Deputy Ken Wicha, fire investigator with the Webster County Sheriff's Department, said the cause is undetermined after completion of the investigation but that an explosion has been ruled out.
However, propane cylinders inside the house at 1112 Hooper Road did explode because of the heat from the blaze, he said. Neighbors had reported hearing explosions when the fire was reported about 2 a.m. March 29, officials previously said.
Nellie M. Hooper, 92, died in the fire. Her 36-year-old grandson, Calvin Sibley, had tried to help her escape but was unable to lead her any farther than the carport because of the heat, county Coroner Steve Wells said afterwards.
Sibley was treated for light burns that he received.
"Her grandson Calvin is to be commended for his heroic efforts in trying to rescue his grandmother," Wicha said.
