North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora Ambulance Service has purchased Garmin Nuvi 350 global positioning systems.

The GPS devices will help Emergency Medical Service crews respond to residents of Webster County in a more efficient manner.

Three of the devices were put in ambulances. The new 911 mapping system has been loaded on the devices with the most up-to-date information available. Each device will be routinely reloaded with new addresses.

"This is just another way to improve our response times to the people of Webster County in times of need," said Todd Shettles, NMMC-Eupora Emergency Medical Services director. "These devices enable us to have ready access without the use of maps, thus decreasing the amount of time looking for correct locations."

Shettles said one way to speed up response time is for residents to know their 911 address and have it in a visible location with reflective numbers.
