Circuit Clerk Deborah Hood Neal announces that the Webster County circuit clerk's office will be open Nov. 1 from 8 a.m. until noon for absentee voting. Saturday is the last day to vote an in-office absentee ballot.
Anyone needing to vote an in-office absentee ballot may also vote today and Friday in the circuit clerk's office. Voters who have any questions may call 258-6287.
Also, voters who have moved within the county and need to change their precinct before Election Day should notify the circuit clerk's office so the staff can update their information.
TSX voting
machine testing
Circuit Clerk Deborah Hood Neal has announced that the testing of the new TSX (Touch Screen Voting) machines is being conducted at the Webster County Courthouse on Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
If any error is detected, the cause will be determined and corrected until an errorless count is made and certified by the officials in charge of the election. The public is invited to attend and witness the testing. Anyone with questions may contact the circuit clerk's office at 258-6287.

The Webster County Democratic Executive Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Eupora Community Center.
Empowered Woman
workshop slated
Webster County welcomes its first public social support and women's outreach organization formed exclusively to promote and provide ways for abused women and troubled female adolescents to become self-sufficient in the community.
"Empowered Woman" is an organization created to promote the empowerment of women and female adolescents that have been physically, mentally and emotionally challenged and abused in the community.
A workshop will be held every second and fourth Thursday of the month to support and strengthen positive character-building skills dealing with vulnerability
This program will partnership with other affiliate programs to offer free legal advice, job interview skills, parenting skills, money management and many other resources to empower young women to become a success.
The organization will offer services to the surrounding communities: Webster County, Maben, Mathiston, and Choctaw, Montgomery and Calhoun counties.

Boo Parade
The Eupora Elementary kindergarten classes will participate in the annual "Boo Parade" Oct. 31 at 9:30.
The classes will parade down Main Street in Halloween costumes. We invite all to come out and watch as we have a great time. We also want to thank all of the Eupora businesses that are trick or treating our children. They truly enjoy it every year.
Cemetery committee

The Eupora Churchill Cemetery Committee will be selling barbecue plates on Nov. 1 beginning at 10 a.m. in SuperValu's parking lot.
Chicken plates, chicken sandwiches, goat meat, hamburgers and sodas will be available.
Shooting Sports
Webster County 4-H will have a Shooting Sports sign-up and orientation meeting on Nov. 1 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Webster County Extension Office.
Disciplines will include Air Pistol, Air Rifle, Archery, .22 Pistol, .22 Rifle and Shotgun. If you plan to participate in 4-H Shooting Sports this year, please make every effort to attend this event. Fundraiser for Mart
Salley is Saturday
A fundraiser for District 2 Supervisor Mart Salley will be Nov. 1 at the Woodmen of the World lodge on Highway 182 in Eupora.
The benefit begins at 2 p.m. All money received will be given to Salley to help his family with health care expenses incurred to treat his cancer.
Boston butts are being presold for $25 each, and barbecue plates are being presold and will be sold on site for $5 each. Concessions will be available on site and cakewalks will also be part of the fundraiser.
Musical entertainment will include local singers beginning at 2 p.m. and Elvis impersonator Tim Johnson at 5:30 p.m. An auction of items donated from the Golden Triangle community will begin about 6:15 p.m.
Two .45-70 rifles with scopes are being auctioned and raffled. Raffle tickets are available from Chancery Clerk Russ Turner, Dr. Jack Huffman at the NMMC-Eupora Emergency Room, Buster Duvall, Danny Hubbard, Trace-Way Restaurant and 670 Mini-Storage.

4-H fundraiser
Choctaw County 4-H is now taking orders for delicious Jubilations cheesecakes. These will be delivered on Nov. 21, just in time for Thanksgiving. They also make great gifts and freeze for up to one year.
Two sugar-free flavors are available, plus the addition of a new flavor, peanut butter. One may choose from eight flavors, including popular Southern Caramel Pecan, Turtle and more. See a 4-H member to order by the Nov. 5 deadline, come by the Choctaw County Extension Office or call 285-6337.
EWES Fall Festival
Nov. 6 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. should be marked on your calendar with bright red ink because you will want to be at East Webster Elementary School to enjoy the fun and fellowship of the EWES Fall Festival.
Activities will include the Pepsi ring toss, toy walk, go fish, golf, football toss, Frisbee throw and cakewalk. One may also purchase tickets for the Grocery Grab from which the winner's ticket will be drawn on Nov. 14.
Tickets for most activities will be sold from Oct. 27 through Nov. 6. Early purchase gives you more time to have fun. There is no need to cook before you come because food and drinks will be sold in the cafeteria.
Oktoc's annual
'Country Store'
The 38th annual Fall Day in the Country will be Nov. 8 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Oktoc Community Clubhouse and grounds, 9 miles south of Starkville on Oktoc Road.
Sponsored by the Oktoc Garden Club, the Oktoc Country Store includes Brunswick stew lunches and bulk stew, homemade country kitchen bakery items, local musical talents, Grandma's Attic, a handmade quilt raffle, Farmer's Market featuring local produce and the opportunity to share in the community spirit of Oktoc.
Cakewalk at VFW
The Ladies Auxiliary to Joe H. Morehead VFW Post 3806 will be having a cakewalk Nov. 8 at 2 p.m. at the VFW post located off Highway 182 in Eupora. Proceeds will help fund some of the upcoming programs it will be doing.

A Southern gospel singing will be Nov. 8 at 6:30 p.m. (new time) at the Sherwood Community Center.

Eupora Christmas
Parade Dec. 6
"Babes in Toyland" is this year's theme for the Eupora Christmas Parade, which will be Dec. 6 at 5 p.m. The Eupora Rotary Club is sponsor.
All floats will be judged on workmanship, creativity and adherence to theme. First place will receive $200 and second place will receive $100. Entry fee is $10. Entrants should be in the parade lineup area (Fox/Clark Avenue) by 4 p.m. on parade day.
