City hosts ball tournaments

Eupora is continuing to host various youth-league ball tournaments, according to Park Director Mike Narmour.

More than 40 teams are expected here Friday-Saturday for a USAAA tournament, the "82 Challenge Championship."

Narmour expects a combined 35-45 teams here for two Dizzy Dean boys state tournaments and one girls state tournament in July. The 11-year-old boys tournament will be July 3-5, and the 8-year-old boys and girls tournaments will be July 10-12 at Gary Park.

Motels, restaurants and merchants should be prepared for extra business during tournament weekends, Narmour said.

"This will be a big boost for our local economy," he said, adding that the tournaments are being made possible through the support of the mayor and Board of Aldermen.
