Relay for Life Friday night

Webster County will be "Kickin' Out Cancer" on Friday.

Its first Relay for Life, the walking event/fund-raiser to benefit the American Cancer Society, is tomorrow night from 6 to midnight at North Mississippi Medical Center-Eupora's walking track.

Bring your lawn chairs for a fun-filled night that will include a fashion show, youth scavenger hunt, talent show, puppet show, raffles and music.

Games, activities and items available for purchase from participating teams will include Relay lap beads, face painting, Milk-A-Cow, jail, inflatable jumpers, Go Fish, dunking booth, football throw, glow necklaces, toy-on-a-string, pick-up ducks, canvas painting and Western photos.

Great food such as pizza, barbecue chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, taco-in-a-bag, snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy, homemade ice cream and lemonade will be available. All proceeds from these fund-raisers go to the ACS.

Webster County cancer survivors are invited as special guests and will kick off the event with the official Survivor Lap. Cancer survivors planning to attend should RSVP Carol Hillhouse at 258-8489.

Team members will then take turns walking around the track because cancer never sleeps. Luminarias (paper bags with candles inside) around the track will be lit during a special ceremony to represent those lost to cancer and honor those who have survived.

Participating teams are Golden LivingCenter-Eupora, NMMC-Eupora, North Mississippi Home Health-Eupora, Eupora First Baptist Church, Mathiston First Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Tomnolen Baptist Church, Walthall Baptist Church, Eupora First United Methodist Church, Liberty United Methodist Church, Eupora Church of Christ, Eupora Elementary School, Eupora High School, Webster County DHS/HD/SO, Eupora 20th Century Club, HomeSource, Mathiston Florist, Plymouth Tube Co. and Regions Bank.

Come join with these teams and the community to celebrate the lives of those who have had cancer, remember those lost and fight back against a disease that takes too much.
