Services for Rad E. Walters, 85, of Eupora were Aug. 10, 2009, at Eupora First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Trey Harper officiating. Burial was in Eupora City Cemetery.
He was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Chickasaw County, and was an Army veteran of World War II and Korea. Mr. Walters worked as a line foreman for Natchez Trace Electric Power Association for 41 years, and was instrumental in the establishment of the Green Thumb Nursery and Landscaping for 28 years. He also served as a Eupora alderman for eight years. Mr. Walters died Aug. 8, 2009, at the VA Medical Center in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Laverne G. Walters of Eupora; two sons, Keith Walters of Natchez and Bruce Walters of Eupora; a sister, Maynelle Nagoski of Memphis, Tenn., three brothers, Charles Walters of Conway, Ark., James R. Walters of Alexander, Ark., and Leon Walters of Fulton; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Tim Hicks, Bobby Johnson, Charlie Oliver, Jim Smith, Turner Shaw, John Walters, Steve Walters and Ted Wilson.
Honorary pallbearers were members of the Wesley Bible Class, and current and former employees of NTEPA.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of one's choice.
Oliver Funeral Home of Eupora was in charge of arrangements.
