From Staff Reports
Eupora and Mathiston experienced decreases in their sales tax revenues in April, according to the latest figures available from the state Tax Commission.
Statistics posted on the commission’s website (www.mstc.state.ms.us) show that Eupora’s sales revenue was down 1.3 percent in April compared with the same month a year ago. The city received $32,959 in April, compared to $33,398 a year ago.
The city’s year-to-date sales tax collections are down 0.72 percent, or $2,780.

The state’s sales tax collections have a three-month cycle. Tax is collected by the retailer one month; it is reported and paid to the state Tax Commission by the retailer the second month; and the diversion is paid to the cities by the Tax Commission the third month.
Since the state’s fiscal year begins in July, year-to-date totals reflect collections beginning in June.

• Maben: $5,392 ($4,800)
• Mantee: $2,305 ($2,068)
• Walthall: $2,144 ($2,725)
